L.A. Departures

It’s Los Angeles in the early 90’s and Lily is in her mid-20s, excited to make her way into the world. In this sexy romance, Lily avoids the traditional roles that have been assigned to her, making a break from her kind but old-fashioned parents and definitely not following in the footsteps of her happily-married-with-two-kids older sister. Lily is looking for adventure in love and inspiration in work. A freelance gallery assistant, she strives to become successful in the art world, but hasn’t figured out how to launch a solid career.

On a flight home to spend Christmas with her parents at their home on Maui, Lily meets and flirts with an older man, hoping to make a connection, perhaps find a sugar daddy. Instead he introduces her to his handsome son. With no sparks there, Lily instead makes plans to connect with her high school crush, a guy everyone knows is a cad, including Lily, but she wants a shot now that they are out of school. Their hot night together doesn’t exactly go as planned.

Back in LA she starts a new job and meets a well-known artist who flirts with her. Lily is intrigued, but cautious as his reputation precedes him. While she navigates his come-ons and sexual energy, the handsome son calls and asks her out. Confiding in her best friend, Lily admits she wants to have different romantic experiences while she’s young, not just date the safe boring guys like the handsome son. Maybe she’ll find a “Mr. Right” if such a man even exists, but not yet.

Following the path of pure pleasure and selfish desires, Lily finds herself with no job, no apartment and no love life. Alone and unsure of what she really wants, she takes a job she thinks she’ll hate, agrees to a shared apartment and insults the one kind man in her life.

Where will she go next to find what she really wants? And who will surprise her when she gets there?
