The Tree of Life - also known as the World Tree - is the symbol of the „axis mundi", the axle of the world. It is a well-known motiv in several religions and mythologies. It was considered to be the place of the gods and a symbol of awakening. The Tree of Life is represented as a colossal tree which supports the heavens, thereby connecting the heavens, the earth, and, through its roots, the underground. It embodies living, growing, healing and immortality.
